Trail homologation project starting
July 19, 2019
Homologation Project Commencement: Mount McIntyre Ski Trails, Singletrack Non-Motorized Multi Use Trails and Disc Golf Course.
Work is ready to commence on the Trail Homologation project on some of the ski trails at Mt. McIntyre beginning July 19 until July 26. The next phase will begin again on August 7, lasting approximately 3 weeks.
Due to the presence of heavy equipment, there will be temporary closure of the disc golf course and intermittent closures of some of the mountain bike trails. Arrangements are being made to ensure that the annual disc golf tournament can proceed at Mount McIntyre in August as planned.
The purpose of the project is to create a ski race loop that meets national competition standards. The project has received generous support from local businesses and the Community Development Fund. Local contractors Tyler Nichol (Transition Industries) and Joseph de Graff (Joe Bike, Trails by Design) have been hired to do the work.
Users are asked to respect the signs posted at the disc golf course parking lot and signs placed on the course and trails.
Disc golf course users are encouraged to use the Solstice Disc Golf Course located near Yukon College, which can be accessed from the Pump House road off College Drive. A sign will be posted on College Drive.
Notices of mountain bike trail closures will also be posted on the Contagious Mountain Bike Club Facebook page and website.
