NEW! Adult Programming

You asked, and we listened! WCCSC is thrilled to launch Adult Lesson Programs for the 2021-22 season! Registration will open on November 1st, 2021 at 12PM.

3-Week Early Season Tune-Up (Intermediate)

There are three options to choose from:

  • Mondays: Nov 29, Dec 6, 13 from 11-12:30

  • Tuesdays: Nov 30, Dec 7 and 14 from 5:30-7PM

  • Sundays: Nov 28, Dec 5, 12 from 2:30-4PM

Get ready for a great season with an early season tune-up of your ski technique! This three-week program is for skiers who have reasonable confidence on skis – both classic and skate. Through some drills and exercises, as well as mileage on the ski club trails, you will refresh and refine skills like balance, propulsion and co-ordination so that you can maintain good rhythm and ski efficiently on varied intermediate (blue) terrain.

Note: technique selected for each session will depend on weather, snow conditions, and number of groups. We hope to include both classic and skate technique over the three sessions, but cannot make any guarantees. (Program may end up being all classic, or all skate, or a mix of both).

COST: $100

3-Week Lesson Program (Beginner)

There are two options to choose from:

  • Mondays: Nov 29, Dec 6, 13 from 11-12:30

  • Tuesdays: Nov 30, Dec 7 and 14 from 5:30-7PM

Get ready for a great winter with some early season skill building for your classic ski technique! This three-week program is for beginner-level skiers with a bit of experience cross-country skiing who want to gain more skill and confidence on green/beginner terrain. Through some drills and exercises, as well as some mileage on the ski club trails, you will develop your skill in skiing on varied terrain suitable for beginners.

COST: $100

5-Week Lesson Program (Beginner and Intermediate)

  • Thursdays: January 13 to February 10 from 6:30-8PM

Through some drills and exercises, as well as mileage on the ski club trails, you will learn or refine ski skills, including balance, propulsion and co-ordination, so that you can maintain good rhythm and ski efficiently on terrain suited to your level.

There are four group options to choose from:

  • Super beginner – you are very new to cross-country skiing, or have never cross-country skied before. This group will be doing classic technique (the one where you ski in the tracks/grooves in the snow!)

  • Experienced beginner – you’ve been cruising around the beginner (green) ski trails for a season or so on classic skis. You can ski uphill and downhill on easy terrain and can ski to Harvey’s Hut and back, for instance. This group will work on refining and increasing classic skiing skills to gain more confidence to explore some intermediate (blue) trails. On the registration form, you will have the choice of 2 different groups for this category. Classic only or classic and skate.

  • Intermediate classic … but less confident skate  – you are confident classic skiing on varied intermediate (blue) trails, both up and downhill, and you are learning to skate, but are less confident with skate technique. The sessions will be a mix of classic and skate techniques as conditions allow.

  • Intermediate classic & skate – you are confident classic AND skate skiing on varied intermediate (blue) trails, both up and downhill. This group will plan to do both classic and skate techniques as conditions allow.

COST: $150

3-Week Learn to Skate (Beginner)

This program is for skiers who are confident classic skiers, but have little, or no, experience on skate skis (the short skis that glide gracefully on the groomed lane beside the classic ski tracks!). Through skill-building exercises, you will learn the basics of skate skiing and have an opportunity to put your new skills into practice on easy trails at the ski club.

COST: $100
