Winter Activities

With the addition of 20 kilometers of mountain bike trails, the Whitehorse Nordic Centre now has over 100 kilometres of trail open to cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.  The trail system is one of the best in Canada. The trails have been designed for classic skiing, skate skiing and snowshoeing. Skiing with your dog(s) is also allowed on designated trails.

Classic Skiing

About 75 kilometers are groomed and track set for classic skiing. The McIntrye Ascent Trail is groomed and tracked occassionally. Pierre Harvey and the Sarah Steele inner loops are left untracked but they are still suitable for classic skiing.

Skate Skiing

Most trails are groomed for skate skiing. Skate skiers share the trails with those who want to classic ski. The McIntyre Ascent Trail is not recommended for skating.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is allowed on all trails. For a great off-track snowshoe experience, try any of the mountain bike single track  trails including, Rocky Canyon, Birch, Bouncing Bunny, 24 Hour, Rebirth, Porcupine Ridge, Calypso and othersl. Snowshoers are required to pay trail fees.

Some snow shoe routes are marked with signs to show the way.
