Tracksetting Clinic
The tracksetting clinic is an introduction to the role of track setting at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club. Participants are shown how the Jaca and Tidd Tech tracksetters are operated and maintained. Basic track setting problems are covered and how to make grooming and tracksetting decisions that take into consideration safety and enjoyment of recreational skiers.
Topics Covered
- How to adjust track setter for varying snow conditions
- How to set best line
- How to set for safety on hills and corners
- How to set at intersections
Participants will be certified to set tracks at the ski club or at other clubs when requested.
Prerequisites
- Minimum of two years of grooming experience and knowledge of snow machines.
- A willingness to work as a volunteer groomer in the early morning/evening hours (7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. or 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.).
