Raven's Ridge Development
Update February 2010
There is an item in the Draft Official Community Plan that refers to the ATCO land and ATCO's request to have it designated as Country Residential. The land for Raven's Ridge Phase II was already purchased from ATCO so it is not part of ATCO's request.
The Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club does not object to the re-designation of Raven's Ridge Phase II land to "Country Residential". We have already re-routed our trails around that planned development.
In 2006 Raven's Ridge Developments Ltd. (RRDL) announced plans to develop their property on the northwest side of the trail system. The World Cup 10 K Trail crossed the property for many years. Phase 1 of the Development was completed in 2008. With the help of RRDL, the ski club built a new trail and connectors to detour around the current and future subdivisions.
Phase 2 of the Development is pending. There should be no further encroachment on the trails.
Phase 2 and the routing of the 10K around it are shown on the map below. The new routing is also included on the Ski Trail Map which can be downloaded from this site or picked up at the Wax Room and other locations in town.

The club and RRDL signed a Memo of Understanding that states the following:
Upon satisfactory completion of the trail work, the Club will provide to RRDL a letter which states three things:
- That RRDL has consulted with the Club about both phases of the development;
- That the trail relocation meets the Club’s concerns; and
- That the Club will not oppose either phase of the development.
