Whitehorse Nordic Centre
The Whitehorse Nordic Centre is operated by the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club and offers 85 kilometers of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing and snowshoeing. An additional 20 kilometers of ungroomed single track are available for snowshoeing and ski touring. The trail system, combined with a great indoor facility, varied programs and affordable fees makes the Whitehorse Nordic Centre a popular choice for winter recreation. The trails are open year round and are equally popular in summer for mountain biking, hiking, running and walking.
Looking for a Volunteer Coordinator!
The Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for the 2016/17 season, potentially longer. This position is a volunteer position (no pay), so we are looking for somebody wo is willing to donate some of his/her time for the coming year.
We believe that this work will take on average about 5 hours per week, the details will be determined by the coordinator. It is likely that more time will be spent initially during the season (September to November), and less time for the remainder of the season. You will be quite free to determine when you wish to do this work, it could be done daytime or evenings or weekends.
The job duties will be to identify other ski club volunteers that can assist with ski club activities. The volunteers can be identified through the membership applications, through the ski club e-news, advertising on the website, and through other similar means. The type of ski club activities that may need volunteers include organizing and delivering ski programs and events (ski swap, Air North Challenge, EDI Hut to Hut, CMS Wax n’Snax, ski races), trail maintenance and grooming, administrative, policy or similar tasks as required.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be working with ski club staff, Board members, and ski club members in doing this work. You will also be involved in developing and maintaining a spreadsheet or database to organize members that have agreed to be a volunteer, so some familiarity with such software programs would be an asset.
If you are interested in taking on this role, or if you would like additional information, please contact the ski club by September 12, 2016 at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at 668-4477.

Trails in the Summer
The Mt McIntyre Recreation Area which is part of the new regional park, McIntyre Creek Park, offers a variety of summer activities.
The 25 kilometer single track trail network that complements the ski trails is becoming a mountain biking mecca. The trails are excellent for running and walking as well. All single track trails are shown on the ski club trail map or you can download a locally produced app. Club trail maps are available while supplies last at Icycle Sport, Up North Adventures, Yukon Visitor Information Centre and at the Ski Chalet entrance. Contagious Mountain Bike Club is the summer steward of the single track network.
Most of the single track junctions with ski trails are now marked with signs provided by the ski club with support through City of Whitehorse facilities grant and EDI.
The Mt McIntyre Disc Golf course is also avaiable and free of charge. Parking is provided at the Dog/Sundog Trailhead and is accessible from Hamilton Blvd.
The Dirt'n Soul Bike Park is located beside Sumanik Drive, just past the bridge.
There's an outhouse located at the parking lot by Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre Building.
The ski club is not responsible for trail maintenance over the summer and does not provide information about trail conditions. Use the trails at your own risk.
Have fun on the trails! :)
Ski Chalet closed
Ski Chalet is closed for the season from April 16.
As of May 1 there will be a $50 call out fee for access to the chalet. Phone 668-4477.
