Basic Trail Grooming Clinic
The Basic Trail Grooming Clinic is an introduction to trail grooming at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club. Topics include safety, maintenance procedures, how to pack, how to grade and how to operate the snow machines.

7:00 p.m. Welcome, Introductions, Schedule
7:15 p.m. Grooming at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club – organization and policies, When to pack – snow conditions, weather, time of day
7:30 p.m. Safety
7:45 p.m. Familiarization with grooming equipment: snowmachines, implements, maintenance procedures (fueling, troubleshooting)
8:30 p.m. Hands on – operating snow machines safely, how to pack, how to grade
9:45 p.m. Indoors – hot drink/snack - scheduling - questions
10 p.m. Wrap up
Who Can Participate?
Anybody who likes to work outdoors in winter and is prepared to operate a snowmobile either early in the morning (6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.) or evening (7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.). Machines are primarily 2 stroke engines. Previous snowmobile experience is not essential but would be useful.
Equipment Required
Appropriate clothing and footwear, ear protectors, balaclava (face protection), We will be outside most of the time, so warm clothing is essential.

Free for Cross Country Yukon members (any registered club skier in Yukon)
$30.00 for non-members of Cross Country Yukon

Registration Deadline
Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.
Course will be held regardless of snow. Indoor portion will be 1 hour. If necessary, a time will be set to reschedule for the on snow portion.
